What does the Executive Committee Do?

The Executive Committee is the steering committee and leaders of your local Democrat Party.  They are dedicated members of the Letcher County Democrat Party elected by Local Voting Precinct Chairmen and Delegates at a County Convention.  Executive Committee members serve unpaid for a term of four years.  Each member pledges their exclusive loyalty to the Democrat Party and its Candidates.

The primary objective of the Executive Committee is to help Democrat Party nominees get elected to public office.

In addition, The Committee coordinates activities of the local Democrat Party, as well as, communicate and lobby for local issues important to our membership.  They recruit and hire election officials for voter polling places on Election Day.

They recruit Candidates to run for public office as well as raise funds to promote all of the Democrat nominees and to fund activities of the local Democrat Party.

The Executive Committee represents the local party at the State Party level and sends delegates to the Kentucky Democrat Convention to elect members of the State Central Committee and Delegates to the National Democrat Convention.  We are proud to say that our Chairman, Sheila Holbrook, is a member of the State Central Committee representing the 5th Congressional District.

Finally, among its many other duties, the Executive Committee is responsible for enforcing the bylaws of the Kentucky and National Democratic Party.
